Gus may become a Soloist yet... although actually obtaining this frame would be the conclusion to a long string of "if's", flawless synchronization and a little luck. I have the plan set to a T, but the fact of the matter is the excecution will be truly sketchy even under ideal circumstances. Odd as it seems this makes the whole exercise 100% more appealing... god I love a good challenge. Here's to chance and random fortuitous events! Btw, If I pull this off (which is unlikely) I may just die from cool. And... this song is on repeat in my head. Good sign? Considering all of my commitments this weekend it may just be...

Once again i've caved and embraced the caffeinated love that dare not speak it's name. (double long espresso for those not in the know, courtesy of the S monopoly) At least it's quick, discreet and unpalatable to certain grad students. I have just spent the past 5h doing analysis on a project that isn't my responsibility and have a good 3h worth of data entry for my own to get through before I can go home tonight. Plus a lecture this afternoon. Joy. On my walk this morning I was given a purple sucker stating that "tuition fees suck!"... preaching to the converted on that one. But the associated website is worth a look: http://www.reducetuitionfees.ca/ I was only able to scan this thanks to the pile of stuff i'm supposed to be doing and a violently escalating temper, but it seems to be on the mark. Some days I wonder why I do this to myself. Also, I maintain that facebook can bite me... and i'd be shocked if some facet of UT isn't monitoring it. Paranoid? perhaps. overly caffeinated? more likely. More to come later tonight.
eta: Happy Halloween! Took me a while to figure that one out today. I suppose it's all for the best because I thought I had been hallucinating when I saw someone walk by with a cape this morning. Also, that link above? Yep, the one right up there... well, it was fully functional when I posted this. Censorship? Crappy server? Inquiring minds want to know. (or not, I actually think my bed is looking pretty good right now)
N.B. - It is best not to go for that stress-relieving run when there are screaming sugar-high kids running around as goblins and the like.

Did an alleycat + afterparty on Sat, went to the PCPC show on Sun and chased that down with a quick sprint through Oakville. I picked up a nice little male Eryx columbrinus loveridgei, aka Kenyan sand boa at the show and chatted with a few familiars. The alleycat was sick, and I got pwned thanks to my lack of familiarity with the east end. Seriously, where the hell is cherry beach?!?!... I always go north of the sewage treatment plant when i'm down there. *sighs* Anyway, i'm off to my academic dream position tonight... will post a friends version of this weekend including bonus party recap shortly. Plus, I have tryouts this week in which I get to crush the dreams and ribcages of freshies... life is sweet.

I went for a ride in the torrential downpour on my day off today. A certain bouncy/hyper mechanic called me at 8:30am and suggested heading out for a ride, to which my response was a groggy 'guh?'. Naturally I agreed point blank before taking a peek out my window, reading the paper etc... miscalculation #1. It rained throughout the ride, but it was wicked fun and as an added bonus the Mechanic seems to be almost as crazy as I am. Gus blew out his front tire on some broken glass near the end which had to be repaired without tire levers. (because I'm lame and forgot my patch kit... this would be #2) Mix in a few nasty inclines, drivers who can't handle rain & seem to embrace the idea of vehicular homicide, a lack of mudguards/fenders and you end up with one hell of an engaging ride. And a muddy saddle. My shoes were oozing water out of the tips as I was walking back inside so I don't think I will be going out for that ride tomorrow... I blame it mostly on my aversion to wet socks. :P

I'm not dead. unfortunately. UofT is bleeding me dry in every context, and I have an interesting new nervous eye twitch to show for it. lol (i'm not sure if it's a stress thing, or a I-need-my-lens-prescription-updated thing, or a recurrence of something a little more ominous... which in typical fashion I doubt I could handle at the moment) On the cycling side of things I picked up a pair of used Sidi Genius' for practically nothing (1size too big but that's ok) and i'm seriously considering a fixed gear/freewheel conversion for my awesome late 80's Nishiki beater. I've also decided to check out the new bike co-op near Bathurst & College on Monday. In the wake of kendo free Sundays I have started riding with some guys from Curbside Cycle. The first ride was a little tame for my liking but I'm told things are going to pick up this week. :) So yeah, full speed ahead on the cycling and academic fronts. Btw, the mitts cited earlier are pretty much finished, it's just assembly at this point. Pics to follow.

2am epiphany: I'm putting my crested gecko setup info on wikihow tomorrow. mwahahaha... erm, I mean, I believe my contribution will be advantageous to rhacodactylus enthusiasts. http://www.wikihow.com/Main-Page
I will be getting to the leachianus setup meme (eventually), and possibly something in the genus' Phelsuma & Uroplatus this fall.
